Dominion Print has installed a Durst Rho 2500 to double its flatbed print capability. The UV printer represents the major element of a £1 million investment by the Bradford company. It has also added further inline welding and eyeletting capacity and more sewing machines.
The Durst Rho 2500 is replacing a Durst P10 hybrid printer and increases throughput to a maximum of 1250m2/hr which is twice the speed of the machine being replaced.
Dominion Print director Verity Fox says: “Investing in our facilities is part of our growth strategy, it will assist us in meeting increased demand for large format printing solutions, partly driven by the return of the events industry, which has bounced back following its covid enforced hiatus.”
The company has a strong presence in hospitality, exhibitions and retail, all sectors that suffered as a result of lockdowns. In that period it managed to pivot to production of protective face masks.
It is one of the few UK companies able to deliver superwide prints for light boxes using a Reggiani textile printer and 5 metre wide Fujifilm Uvistar roll printer.
Now the company is increasing its ability to print rigid materials alongside reducing a bottleneck in some finishing processes. Says Fox: “This machine effectively doubles our flatbed production. We have purchased the additional finishing equipment to enable finishing to keep pace with print.
“The purchase of the additional inline fully sewing equipment further enhances our tension frame graphic production. The automation significantly reduces the need for complex training and enables operators to produce tension graphics, on a wide range of media, to the highest quality.”
The Durst Rho 2500 UV can print on materials to 40mm thick and weighing 50kg. It is also capable of printing corrugated boards for packaging applications and can take a 60kg roll of flexible media.
