SF Taylor upgrades to latest Duplo

The Stockport printer has installed an iSaddle 5.0 to cope with growing demand and faster deliveries.

Long term Duplo customer SF Taylor has returned to the Addlestone business for its latest investment. Three years after buying a DBM600, the Stockport company has upgraded to an iSaddle 5.0, while retaining the existing machine.

This marks a “significant step forward in production capabilities” says Duplo. In turn this has enabled the printer to tackle more complex products as well as more of them.

Client solutions director Richard Hardstaff says: “We work across a wide range of sectors, from the NHS and councils to private clients and universities. That variety means our finishing equipment needs to be as flexible as our service offering – and the iSaddle 5.0 gives us that flexibility. It’s allowed us to take on more complex jobs and handle them in-house, rather than outsourcing.”

in turn this is keeping a greater share of the job’s margin within the expanding business. At the point that SF Taylor was planning to expand its capability on finishing that it was introduced to Duplo’s latest booklet maker.

“We needed a solution that could help reduce outsourcing costs and give us more control over job schedules. The iSaddle 5.0 delivers on both counts. It offers advanced features such as stepped booklet production and the ability to create A4 landscape books – capabilities that open new opportunities for our clients while saving us from having to outsource specialised jobs,” says Hardstaff.

The new machine is already making its presence felt. There have been measurable improvements in efficiency; jobs have been turned around faster and outwork (with its associated costs) has been reduced. It has joined a line up of finishing equipment that covers the standard cutting and folding, but also collating, drilling, counting and shrink wrapping  as well as the saddle stitching for a range of clients and includes supplying the NHS and the print management clients with conventional print and since the purchase of Branding 365 two years ago, with a growing range of promotional products.
