MBA has purchased a brace of Bowe Fusion Cross inserters for its Warrington site to mirror machines that it has at its main production hub in Tottenham.
At that operation there are four Fusion Cross lines handling a range of direct mail, transactional and other customer communication products.
The success of these machines has given MBA the confidence to order the same machines for the plant in the north west. One line was delivered at the end of last year, the second at the start of this year.
Both were needed quickly as MBA had taken on new contracts that needed to be brought on board.
Group production director Tom Nangle says: “We have been so pleased with the performance and flexibility from the first four Fusion Cross inserters installed at Tottenham, coupled with the onsite service support from Bowe, it was the logical choice to look to repeat that experience at our Warrington site as we onboard additional new clients.”
Bowe’s UK senior account manager Steve Basnett points out that the high speeds plus the predictable output levels “means that job planning to meet client service even agreements can readily be met.”
Warrington site production manager Vinnie Murphy says: “With a very demanding client deadline to meet, I was delighted to see the first Fusion Cross installed at Warrington in record time, just four weeks from point of order. The Bowe engineers quickly had the Fusion Cross installed, training completed and the cycling at speeds of up to 22,000 mail pieces per hour.”
The dual input channel, running from one while the other is prepped, enables the company to quickly switch between formats so keeping the lines running. This was proved during the first week of full operation as on day one, MBA produced 211,000 mailing pieces in a 12-hour shift. This increases output at MBA by 40%.
