Mark Lawn has left Canon Europe to head up Fujifilm’s Print on Demand strategy for Europe.
Mark Lawn has switched from Canon Europe to Fujifilm, joining the digital press supplier to head its new print on demand business in Europe.
This is focused around the Revoria PC1120 six-colour toner press which is being rolled out in Portugal, Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain. Other countries are likely to follow as relationships with Xerox are worked through. The Revoria PC1120 is Fujifilm’s interpretation of the machine that Xerox sells as the Iridesse.
Revoria is the family name for the toner products that Fujifilm is bringing to Europe in the wake of the ending of its partnership with Xerox at corporate level. It continues to supply Xerox with print engines, but without joint technology agreements in place.
Fujifilm will position the Revoria PC1120 below its sheetfed inkjet Jetpress 750 in terms of productivity, suited to the shorter runs and to work that needs the additional colours that inkjet cannot, as yet at least, provide.
Lawn had worked for Canon Europe for 17 years latterly as its director of professional print and commercial inkjet solutions. He has also worked for EFI and spent ten years at Xerox.
Leaving Canon has been a wrench, but Lawn says: “I am thrilled about this magnificent career opportunity and I very much look forward to an exciting future at Fujifilm. The future is exciting, and we have a unique opportunity to bring these products to market in an agile and flexible way, as well as being a little bit disruptive, which I think is good for the market and for customers.”
Prior to taking up the new role last week, Lawn had been on six months gardening leave. He posted on LinkedIn that deciding to leave Canon Europe had been a “hugely difficult decision” and added that the new role is “genuinely a unique opportunity to help a fantastically innovative company to develop and build a significant new pillar in their already diverse business”.
As well as the colour press, his responsibilities cover the E1 mono press and the new Revoria DFE.
