H+H’s specialist folders are now part of the more mainstream MBO operation, signalling further opportunities for finishing.
Komori has reorganised its H+H speciality folder business to bring it more tightly under the umbrella of MBO. While H+H has long been part of MBO, its market in pharmaceutical folding and other applications requiring the ability to handle thin papers and produce complex folds, has kept the two businesses apart. No longer.
The realignment will retain the specialist product expertise while connecting to customers through the Komori and MBO international network. Service, spares and operational support will fall under the remit of MBO. This will standardise reporting and other processes across the group.
It will also enable both manufacturers to exploit each other’s strengths as interest in automated production continues to increase. MBO for example has led development of robot arms for stacking pallets.
At a Komori/Screen open house last year, an MBO finishing line for pharmaceutical leaflets was in operation taking reels printed by Screen on lightweight paper using its inkjet press and processing these from unwind, sheeting, folding and stitching combining technology from MBO and H+H.
Demand for full inline finishing is on the increase thanks to installations of continuous feed inkjet presses and their expansion from transactional and book printing into direct mail, leaflets and brochures. MBO has supplied a line to MAMS to handle reels printed on a Ricoh VC70000 inkjet press.
The full line up of folders and solutions will be on display at the showroom at H+H’s Openweiler plant while offices in Bielefeld remains as the sales and administration hub.
Thomas Heininger, who has been CEO of MBO Postpress Solutions before becoming CEO of Komori Europe, says: “H+H stands worldwide for high expertise in small-format folding and highly automated solutions in this segment.
“With the realignment, we are creating a clear division of responsibilities and combining H+H’s specialised market and product expertise with MBO’s international organisation and process strength.”
