Acquisition of Moss creates global platform for experiential and retail brands backed by PE investment.
PE backed display graphics business Vomela has acquired Moss Inc, little more than two years after that expanding company acquired Macro Arts in St Neots.
The acquisition is Vomela’s third in a year and the second since PE business Riverside International backed Vomela’s strategy of creating an international network to serve major retail brands through display and experiential print. While flexible packaging, labels, corrugated and cartons are sectors that have global print suppliers, display graphics has remained relatively regional. When US company Moss bought MacroArts in November 2023 to join other European businesses, it was a first step in what could become a charge to build networks of suppliers.
Riverside International backed the acquisition of direct mail supplier PFL in July and has now united with Moss, a much larger strategic acquisition, one that creates a “global experiential events production powerhouse” according to the company, “whether they take shape in a mailbox, a retail environment or on the world’s largest event stages”.
Vomela operates under several names and its Fusion events business becomes part of Moss which retains its name as part of the Vomela group and will be run by current president and CEO Jason Popp.
Moss has already built an international network though sites in Germany, Poland and Spain as well as the UK. It has continued to expand through acquisition, adding Rocket Graphics to the UK site in February this year.
Vomela has 20 production facilities in the US and Canada and includes the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York as a customer. As well as print, design, fabrication and installation, it has its own transport business and now offers direct mail and commercial printing via affiliate businesses.
Vomela president and CEO Mark Auth says: “By adding Moss to Vomela, we are bringing together two organisations whose strengths naturally align. Moss’s solutions, design and structural engineering expertise perfectly complements our scale in printing, fabrication, installation, and logistics. Together, we create the most capable experiential and events company in the world, and with Moss’s established operations in the UK and Europe, we gain immediate international reach that expands what we can deliver for customers globally.”
Popp is equally enthusiastic about the deal, saying: “Joining Vomela allows Moss to accelerate our mission of delivering premium, sustainable experiential environments for global brands.”
