From the biggest of brands to the print shops who buy in extra services, Solopress has developed platforms to suit the needs of everyone in the business of printed products. Here Print Business describes the offerings and managing director Simon Cooper talks about how each works and who they are for.
The end customers’ orders flow straight into Solopress’s workflow which means fast and accurate fulfilment. However, there is always the possibility that the supplied artwork may not be optimal. The service starts with a check to ensure that the PDF is produced correctly for print and making the amendments that are necessary. For Solopress this avoids disappointment of running poor quality files. There are five levels in total ranging from the basic check to production of a ground up design through to setting brand guidelines and print ready PDFs.
Simon Cooper: “Customers who aren’t used to procuring design work are often apprehensive about the process. What assets would they need to provide? How do they brief the job in? Most importantly, will the costs spiral out of control? The Solopress Design Service takes away those worries, with a straightforward briefing process and a transparent pricing structure.”
The Solopro service is a package that can be tailored to individual clients, including discounted prices compared to those available through the public face of its website. This service recognises that trade customers, with established relationships with their customers, were not able to make a margin on these products. And, as many smaller printers have reduced their production capacity since the pandemic, perhaps turning off their litho presses, there has been a growing interest in using trade printers.
Simon Cooper: “The pricing will be different for different customers, as we appreciate that our customers need to make a margin. We want to take discussions about price off the table. This is about understanding the pricing they are getting at the moment and working with that. This is a far more consultative approach.”
This is a portal for corporates or franchises that ensures that the brand identity is adhered to properly. This is done through editable templates, in a way that ensures consistency of colour, fonts and style. It will bring accountability and transparency to print purchasing.
Simon Cooper: “Before ecommerce, the print industry was incredibly non transparent: a buyer might be confused when receiving three very different estimates. Solopro arose because not everybody wants standard products and many want to talk to a human. Soloflo is for those who have a high volume of jobs and who don’t want to manually enter them into our system. Brand Central was devised as a branded shop where users themselves edit and upload business cards or other templated items. We build the templates and create the look of the shop for people to transact on and orders flow to us to produce.”
