VISITORS TO PRINT EFFICIENTLY NEXT week can enjoy high quality seminars and participate in a daily lunchtime debate free of charge. The programme has been put together by Print Future a consortium of consultants with deep expertise in the industry.
They will join a show which includes a new Ryobi 765E, the first time this press has been shown in the UK, a Kodak Nexpress, and a host of finishing equipment from IFS, which with Kodak and Apex Digital Graphics, is one of the key partners. Print Efficiently is being staged at Apex’s premises in Hemel Hempstead.
THIS IS THE THIRD OUTING FOR THEevent and the first time it has been held in Hemel Hempstead. Previously it has been staged at IFS premises in Perivale, but this is awkward to get to, especially from the north, and suffers from inadequate parking. There is no such restriction at the Apex premises. As before the aim is to show a complete workflow, from an order placed on a web to print system from Vpress, through to delivery of a completed product. This can be produced on the litho press, on the Kodak or Konica Minolta digital press on the large format Roland DG machines. A range of finishing applications, from stitched booklets to perfect bound books and folders will feature.
However, it is the seminar programme that adds an extra dimension. There is a different subject each day and different presenter. Some focus on practical issues such as achieving colour standards; some on more strategic developments, such as projecting what the industry might look like in 2020. The debates involve an expert chairman, a consultant and a printer with practical experience of the matter in question. Questions from the floor are definitely invited.
AS WITH THE SEMINARS, THE debates will cover the ground of digital and prepress, printing issues and finishing. A key subject, being tackled on 3 October, and repeated on 8 October, is how to achieve colour stabilisation across litho and digital. Richard Lewis from Printed Solutions in High Wycombe is joined by Robert Lugg from CGS Publishing Technologies under the control of Paul Sherfield of the Missing Horse Consultancy for what is shaping up to be an informative session.
