Direct marketing printer Romax is to install an Imprint MIS as part of a drive to improve efficiency by understanding costs of the complex products it delivers.
Direct marketing specialist Romax has replaced home grown IT technology with an MIS from Imprint, including the Direct Mail Business Control system.
This is proving a key feature to allow Imprint to win business, with recent wins including Latcham Direct opting for the Essex company’s solution on the back of this feature. The feature covers estimating for the different elements of a mail pack, shop floor data collection for tracking job progress and job tickets that can be passed around the plant digitally.
Romax managing director Robin Sumner says: “We have had our own bespoke MIS for some time now and to be honest we had outgrown it. Imprint demonstrated that they can offer us everything to move the business forward.
“Additionally we will be looking to automate our workflow and as Imprint offers JDF/JMF integration with all our machining including our Xerox presses and Horizon finishing machines. It ticked all the boxes.”
The press line in the Greenwich business is headed by an iGen 150 while IFS has supplied Horizon folders and a Perfecta guillotine.
The purchasing cycle on the MIS began for Imprint with a meeting at Drupa. Romax also checked out other MIS suppliers. Implementation, which will result in a full JDF set up, will take further months. Training and installation will begin at the end of the month.
A key benefit of this will be the ability to generate an accurate comparison of real costs against estimated costs, enabling the company to improve the accuracy of future estimates in the notoriously difficult to price direct mail sector.
This will also benefit the company’s customers, says Imprint. Sales and marketing director Wayne Beckett says: “We demonstrated the DM BCS at Drupa and I’m pleased to say that the direct mail system was well received. We are very excited that Romax has chosen us to work with them as they look to move the business forward.”
