Dorset printer Remous has invested in the latest colour and mono Ricohs to strengthen digital print possibilities.
Remous has installed two Ricoh presses to join a large format machine at its factory in Sherborne, Dorset.
The company has opted for a Pro C9100 and Pro C8110 mono press to upgrade an operation that had relied on a Ricoh Pro C901. “We want to expand on the web to print front,” says managing director Remous. “Looking for jobs that we can personalise.”
The company conducted a thorough examination of the options covering both toner and inkjet before deciding that the combination of mono and colour would best suit its business needs. The newer press is a step up in colour quality over the C901 and delivers greater versatility.
It comes with the long sheet option to print banners or 6pp A4 and will print to 500 micron folding box board. Remous has in recent years established a reputation for short run packaging for customers looking for limited numbers of boxes. Depending on the print run, these can be printed on the Ricoh digital presses or the B2 Komori LS29 H-UV which is the centrepiece of its Milborne Port factory a few miles away.
“The registration on the new press is better, the colour is better,” says Bunter. “Ricoh has done a great job.”
Both digital and litho press are calibrated to the same Fogra standard to enable consistent print quality within the two processes.
The enlarged digital print unit is limited in finishing capabilities at present. There is a guillotine on site while more complete work needs to be finished at the main factory. Bunter is already planning to change this, considering a Duplo multi finisher to handle cards and simple jobs on the spot.
