The Lancashire printer has decided to install both of the latest toner machines from Ricoh – the first in the UK to do so.
Poplar Services Printers has become the first UK company to take delivery and install both of Ricoh’s newest presses.
Following a visit to the Ricoh customer experience centre in Telford, the St Helens company has bought both the Pro C9500 and the Pro C7500, the press that offers additional toners beyond CMYK. And Poplar intends to make use of all 11 toners it can print with to show customers the creativity that is possible with print. That is further enhanced by installation of a ColorCut FB9000 digital cutting table from Morgana, giving the St Helens business to opportunity to offer further special effects. Managing director Martin Winders says: “We would like to be able to produce bespoke folders. Then there’s door hangers for hotels and small format packaging. This could be for prototypes or small samples that sales reps can use to introduce a new product. That is potentially a very big market,” says Winders.
Likewise he believes that the extra colour capability of the Pro C7500 will mean the company can offer more to a customer and that this will be welcome. “We can show them what is possible with print, the different effects that they can get.”
The company will retire its Pro C9110 with the arrival of the Pro C9500. It has already shifted away from litho completely. There is also a mono only Ricoh 8210, and the experience with Ricoh lay the foundations for the latest investment.
“We have a long standing relationship with Ricoh so we know the presses delivery consistent colour and print quality. And we know the people It’s like a family business; they care about and getting the job for the customers,” says Winders.
Poplar will work with the set of additional toners from Ricoh, covering white, clear, metallic silver, metallic gold, security red, and neon yellow and red colours. “It means we can go to our client base to talk about the extra effects and the impact we can make,” he says.
“Our strategy is to distinguish ourselves by quality and by service. It is not stack it high and sell it cheap.”
