Mimeo has added a Canon iX3200 inkjet press to its production capacity at its site in Huntingdon. The press has been in place for a month after what senior operations manager Cameron Dunlop calls a “smooth, on schedule installation”.
The inkjet press adds a further dimension to the company’s all digital operation. This delivers photo products, school planners and a range of commercial print products both for itself and under white label conditions for third parties.
The company has had a long relationship with Canon and this is not its first inkjet press on the Huntingdon site. The company also operates an HP PageWide T250 with a Hunkeler line for finishing.“The iX3200 is already delivering excellent quality and productivity improvements, and we’re excited about the new opportunities it brings to our print operations,” Dunlop says.
Mimeo says it is achieving an up time of more than 90% producing 9,120 SRA3 sheets an hour linked to a highly automated workflow. This is encouraging the business to reshape existing workflows.
That will be needed as the business takes on work from the acquisition of training materials business KnowledgePoint Print Services. The Reading company is a supplier of bespoke training materials to a range of industries with print, digital and fulfilment services to the fore.

The new member of the group will gain access to Mimeo’s production technology and workflow systems as well as being able to tap into the wider Mimeo network with production sites in the US, Germany and France as well as the UK.
Mimeo has a strong educational materials focus supplying schools with planners, exercise books and yearbooks from the Huntingdon site.
