The leading digital printing in Ireland has taken delivery of the first Durst Rho 1312 in the British Isles.
McGowans Print, Ireland’s leading digital printer, is starting to run the Durst Rho 1312 it order at Fespa this year. This is the third Durst large format press installed in Dublin factory, taking the investment in Durst over the last 18 months to €2 million.
McGowans has also recently installed an HP Indigo 10000, the first in Ireland, to cement its reputation as the leading digital house in the country. Now the Rho 1312 is the first of this flatbed inkjet press to be sold by Durst UK. The 2.5 metre wide press prints 12 picolitre droplets, equivalent to 1,000dpi, and can achieve throughput of 650m2/hr. It also runs the first Scodix digital enhancer in Ireland.
The latest Durst press begins commercial operation this week, on existing work in the fashion and cosmetic sector where photo equivalent quality is an essential requirement, and to open new market sectors. The flatbed press is also able to print on 4mm-thick solid materials including aluminium, acrylics, PVC and other plastics and corrugated boards.
McGowans had previously installed a Durst Rho 1030 followed by the P10 320. Proprietor Mal McGowan says: “Our investment in the latest Durst enables us to keep at the forefront of technology. The Rho 1312 is the best flatbed in its class so it was a natural collaboration for McGowans and Durst to partner once again.”
The installation follows a series of sales by Durst to prominent display printers in the UK with Service Graphics and Delta Display among them. For Durst UK and Ireland managing director Peter Bray, the reasons are clear. “With extremely tight deadlines, companies such as McGowans continue to rely on Durst technology to provide, high volume and extremely high quality products that we’re delighted and proud to be supplying,” he says.
