Love Paper week returns in February

The second Love Paper week to promote all things paper will run in February, the St Valentine’s Day month.

Love Paper week is coming back in February next year with Two Sides hoping that the event can bring the whole industry together.

The need for an event to explain and promote the use of paper stems from findings in the Two Sides Trend Tracker report published in the summer. This showed that paper communications have a better rate of trust than digital messages, that 58% of people pay no attention to online advertising but also that many believe digital to have a better environmental record, that paper is wasteful and that forests in Europe continue to be depleted.

Consequently Love Paper week is being conceived as a way to tackle these misconceptions through social media, events and other promotions. Two Sides managing director Jonathan Tame says: “This is where the industry comes together to celebrate and shout about our products.”

It will take place on a global scale from 2-6 February and support is not restricted to Two Sides members. “The problem remains that it’s still too easy for companies to claim they are moving to digital communications for the sake of the environment, but it’s important to point out that digital has an environmental impact too.”

Materials that companies can use on websites and on social media are being compiled over next few weeks in good time for individual businesses to consider their support. This addresses comments that potential supporters for this year’s Love Paper week did not have material in time.

The material will include social media posts and videos, logos and email footers that can be used on digital comms, backgrounds for virtual meetings and other branding.

“From printers, publishers and direct mail specialists to packaging manufacturers, paper manufacturers and distributors, Love Paper week is an opportunity for everyone in the sector to get involved and showcase the positive story of paper,” says Josh Birch, campaign manager for Two Sides UK.

Love Paper week is about giving the industry a collective voice to challenge myths, share facts and celebrate the benefits of paper with both businesses and consumers.”
