The Japanese manufacturer hopes to restore profitability with focus on the mid level production sector.
Konica Minolta has upgraded its AccurioPress C7100 mid volume production press giving it greater flexibility in formats and substrates.
The introduction of the Enhanced models falls within the scope of corporate plans to promote “its mid production printers for mid to large commercial printers” explained in the company’s full year results.
This showed an overall increase in revenues from ¥1 107 705 billion to ¥1 127 882 billion, but with a fall in pretax profits from ¥15 334 billion to a loss of ¥79 156 billion. This was reflected in results from the Professional Print Business unit where revenue increased from ¥263.3 billion to ¥284.6 billion in the year to the end of March with operating profit falling into a loss of ¥13.1 billion compared to an operating profits of ¥11.6 billion.
The company recognised a ¥13.9 billion charge in the industrial print unit of the Profession Print Business for goodwill, property, plant and equipment and intangible assets relating to MGI Digital Technology, the French subsidiary that delivers inkjet enhancement equipment.
Konica Minolta aims to return to profitability in this year building on the introduction of new UV inkjet presses (AccurioJet 60000 and AccurioJet 30000) as well as the mid production machines of which the C7100 Enhanced is the latest iteration.
The 100pp press can be fitted with the IQ501 sensor to ensure colour and registration consistency through a print run. The Intelligent Colour Control technology has an improved algorithm to measure colour on the run and works with Simitri V toner and imaging of 3,600 x 2,400dpi. There is also the option to fit the TU510E four-edge trimming unit.
