The Minuteman in King’s Lynn has installed a more powerful Duplo booklet maker, expanding its production footprint and response rates.
Minuteman’s King’s Lynn franchise has installed a Duplo DBM350 to replace its DBM150, which is being retained as back up to the new machine.
The branch is one of the most sophisticated Minuteman operations in the UK if not globally. It runs three Xerox Iridesse machines, offering up to six-colour printing, the latest installed 18 months ago. Now increasing volumes of booklets and more pressure on turnaround times have led to the investment in finishing.
Managing director Keith Boyce says: “The Duplo 350 Digital is the best fit for the volumes we projected going forward, based on current and future forecasts. It also gave us improved makereadies and speeds allowing us to meet the service standard that we set ourselves to support the needs of our customers for shorter lead times.
“It replaces our older 150 model which is Duplo’s entry level machine, but we still use it as a back up to the new one. It’s so small that we can just tuck it away. It doesn’t take up any room.”
The new booklet maker has lived up to the promise with a dramatic increase in productivity and reduction in costs, says Boyce. “This also complements the automation gains we are making across the whole business as the demands of web to print become more demanding on the print process as volumes increase with an expectation of same day production. The automation on the booklet system means we can push so many more jobs through the machine we are able to make good on our excellent rate of goods delivered per day.”
The more robust booklet maker ensures the business has the capacity for the plans to grow its web to print offerings the company has.
It numbers local and nationwide businesses in the portfolio providing large format print and branded workwear and promotional goods as well as conventional and personalised digital printing. With the growth in online orders, the business can cope with 3,000 separate orders a day across the range of products.
The company also operates two DC746 multi finishers from Duplo, Mimaki, Epson large format printers with Vivid laminators.
