Poole printer K2 Print has invested in a sweep of Technotrans peripherals to match investment in a Komori Lithrone S429 H-UV.
The plant now has three conventional presses, the H-UV and from Technotrans, an AlphaR circulator to ensure the fount is always at the optimum temperture, an AlphaR water treatment unit and AlphaF filtration system.
Printroom manager Jared Denton says that investment in Komoris means that makeready times are faster and wastage levels are minimal “especially on the new H-UV press”.
“We can jobs on the floor and out the door much faster. They can come off the press ready to go in the box which means that we can invoice clients really quickly rather than having to wait for the work to dry fully,” says Denton.
The Technotrans equipment has performed without problem. “The water treatment ensures the water runs as clean as possible. It’s peace of mind and we use systems on all our presses. The filtration was recommended to us by Komori who said we would only need to check the chemistry every two weeks. In fact, we do a Monday morning check just because we always want our presses to run to their optimum.
“We want to stay on top of the maintenance juts to make sure we avoid problems.”
The softer UV inks that are used can lead to greater contamination of the fount solution, but the double filtration on the Technotrans AlphaF deals with this. The chemistry is recycled within the dampening solution, both cutting replenishment rates and cutting waste disposal costs.
The company handles a lot of general commercial work for customers in and around Dorset and has a keen environmental ethos, using sustainable papers and recycling waste and consumables.
K2 Print has a new Komori lS429 H-UV and to ensure optimal production has fitted it with peripherals from Technotrans.
