IPW1 has completed a move from Great Portland Street in the London W1 postcode to Tower Bridge Road, and an SE1 address.
The move comes with investment in a third Xerox Iridesse, making IPW1 one of the few printers with this firepower in the UK and the only business with three in the south east.
“There were a combination of factors behind the move,” says client services director Scott Halsey.
“We had outgrown Great Portland Street, we needed to expand to improve productivity, the lease was ending. Everything came together.”
The move was six months in the planning and took two months to execute and settle in, now completed. The company found its new home relatively quickly, says Halsey. It leaves the 40-year-old business with two sites, the new premises and a site on Wandsworth Road which houses finishing, large format and litho presses. The future though is all about digital.
Managing director Peter Wallace has commented that digital printing has “unleashed creativity like never before. Digital printing produces incredible quality, spot embellishments and stunning colours and metallic hues, all in a single pass. Our customers innovate and so do we.”
The Iridesse technology gives IPW1 the ability to print gold or silver metallics, neon pink and clear toner to embellish print for a range of customers, with particular strength in the hospitality sector.
Should customers require longer runs or more traditional finishing effects, the company has conventional embossing, foiling and die cutting at its Wandsworth Road site.
“We can cover so many different option for customers,” says Halsey.
The company installed its first Iridesse in 2018, at the time the first of the innovative press in the UK and coming ahead of the official European launch of the machine in 2019. Now it has three machines lined up “like an Iridesse train”.
