Birmingham display printer has installed a Vutek H2000 flat bed press to cope with growing demands for high quality wall coverings.
Hollywood Monster has added a third Vutek to its line up of EFI wide format presses, this time buying a 2-metre wide Vutek H2000 Pro flatbed machine.
It joins a 3.2-metre Vutek GS3250 combination printer and a Vutek GS5000R, all supplied by CMYUK Digital, in the Hollywood Monster Birmingham factory. All have been bought in the last three years.
There have been two reasons behind the latest purchase according to director Simon McKenzie: “Although we make full use of the GS3250 combination roll and flatbed printer, we made the decision to invest in a 2m wide machine primarily to handle board production in the burgeoning display segment.
“And we are also doing a lot of wallpaper and it is easier to control the smaller flatbed machine for high end wall decoration work. This has gained us a large account in retail where what we produce has to be high quality.
“While we can produce this on a wider machine it is not as efficient to do so. And we are enjoying a 25-30% growth in wall coverings.”
It has supplied wall coverings across a number of high end retailers, including for Harvey Nichols in The Mailbox, for Westfield in London and for McDonalds.
The flatbed design is also ideal for printing to rigid materials, which are supplied to a customer in the fast-food segment. The press is a six-colour machine printing with UV cured inks and operated through a Fiery front end. CMYUK Digital has worked with Hollywood Monster to profile the materials it uses to ensure full consistency across the print engines despite the technical differences in them.
“We have found that CMYUK Digital’s service is excellent and we have no desire to change to anything or anyone else,” adds McKenzie.
Hollywood Monster has been expanding rapidly and collecting awards for quality and its community activities, most recently the CSR/Pride award in the 2015 Business Masters Awards in Birmingham.
