Heidelberg UK to open doors for digital

Heidelberg is staging a digital open house to demonstrate what it can offer following major announcements at Drupa.

Heidelberg is throwing open the doors at UK head office in Stockley Park for a Digital Customer Day on 25 September.

The company will outline its plans for the Jetfire 50, the product of partnership with Canon that was the surprise announcement at Drupa. Heidelberg has committed to take the iX3200, the basis for the Jetfire 50, and next year will include the iV7, its B2 inkjet press. It will operate them with a Prinect front end and with Heidelberg’s colour management system.

The inkjet machines join the Versafire toner engines which are built on partnership with Ricoh and mean that Heidelberg has full digital coverage of the cutsheet sector. This can be extended into a full cross technology operating system for print with full colour management according to head of software solutions Paul Chamberlain.

It can be fully integrated into the Prinect Production Manager, along with the Heidelberg colour management system, to provide all the benefits of a single centralised workflow for both litho and digital. The Prinect Digital Print Manager and Prinect Digital Front End help automate and standardise the manufacturing process for digital print. Heidelberg UK head of sales Phil Buttress says: “On the back of a very successful Drupa Heidelberg is inviting customers to our customer experience centre at Stockley Park, to learn more about Heidelberg’s Hybrid digital Ecosystem. Demonstrations on the Prinect Digital workflow will be complemented by the latest generation of Versafires and an insight into the Jetfire 50 will take place throughout the day. Our team of technical specialists will be on hand to discuss our customers’ requirements and to advise on the most efficient solution to our customers’ production requirements.”

The set up includes Polar 92N Plus, Morgana Digifold XL Pro, Aero Diet as a small format die cutter for short run packaging and Stahlfoldher BH66 for rapid makeready on folding.

Heidelberg has installed the first of the inkjet presses at a customer in Switzerland. General sales will begin in the new year allowing Heidelberg time to train its sales and support staff on the new technology and to build its stock of spares and consumables.

There will be demonstrations in the morning and afternoon with German food and drink available at lunch between the sessions.
