Gerard Harford appointed Medica Packaging managing director

Harford brings with him more than 25 years’ industry experience

Gerard Harford is Medica Packaging’s new managing director. He brings with him more than 25 years’ industry experience in both the FMCG and pharmaceutical and healthcare markets.

In 2006 he acquired Storey Evans & Co Ltd, an independent pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging supplier. When it became part of European Contego Healthcare Packaging Group he became managing director of the UK. More recently he was with Essentra PLC.

He says: “Under the ownership of Sullivan Street Partners, Medica Packaging has re-established itself as the UK’s leading independent supplier to the pharmaceutical and healthcare market sectors for printed cartons and patient information leaflets. This is a demanding market sector, where there is a growing desire from customers for a truly independent, service and quality focused, competitive producer. Medica is therefore a compelling opportunity both for clients and myself.”

John Bath, CEO since Medica was acquired by Sullivan Street Partners from the Benson Group, will become chairman and continue to be actively involved in the business.

Bath says: “When Medica left the Benson group, I focused the company on our vision of growth through excellence and our mission to become our customers’ most valued provider. I am pleased that Gerard will now be leading the company to capitalise on the significant progress we have already made.”
