GD Print upgrades to Konica Minolta’s latest

The Hampshire business is taking two machines from Konica Minolta as it retires a previous generation machine.

GD Print took the opportunity of the Print Show for a photo to celebrate investment in a Konica Minolta AccurioPress C14010S, the flagship model in the company’s toner press range.

The investment is an upgrade from a C14000E press for the New Milton business. And along with the upgraded machine, GD Print is buying an AccurioPress C7090 Enhanced light production printers with an inline trimming unit.

Managing director of the family business is Craig Dobbs. He says: “While we bid farewell to our trusted Konica Minolta C14000E press, this upgrade brings a significant boost in quality, enhanced automation, and unmatched flexibility – key elements to support our business as it continues to grow and evolve.”

The C14000E was connected to an inline finishing system for delivering trimmed and finished booklets, including square backed products. It is not clear how the new machine with be configured. Like the smaller printer has the TU510E inline trimming unit. It also has the fifth toner station enabling GD Print to additional special colours, currently restricted to white printing.

The versatility is needed as the business serves both the business community in the area and a wider customer base, including the provision of credit card welcome packs, It can supply the full range of print required from business stationery to printed wallpaper installations, booklets to banners.

The latter fall within the capability of the new Konica Minolta as it can handle a sheet up to 1,300mm long. It will also print on material to 450gsm, expanding the company’s product range into light packaging.

Konica Minolta’s category manager for professional print Malcolm Smith adds: “GD Print is taking a significant step towards greater automation and even more flexible print operations by investing in these presses. There are huge opportunities for print businesses that can deliver the right products exactly when they are needed, and Craig and the team are showing exactly how this can be achieved.”
