Fujifilm is introducing the second new member of the Acuity Select flatbed printer family in a year.
It launched the Acuity Select 20 at the Fespa Digital show in March with light cyan and light magenta options and a speed to 33.6m2/hr.
The latest addition is the Acuity Select HS30 running to 57.6m2/hr and has the same ability to use light cyan and light magenta to enhance image quality and to print on rigid materials to 50.8mm thick.
There is a choice of bed size, either 2.5×1.5 metres or 2.5×3.08metres in the X2 version, six- and eight-channel options to give six models across the Select HS30 range. There are also options to run roll materials.
Three-point pneumatic pin registration ensures precision of image placement while high power vacuum zones will reduce the need for masking the bed. The printheads are fed from 3 litre capacity bags and can be switched between modes from fine art to express settings.
There have been changes to the UV lamps to reduce heat emission and allowing the machine to print on thinner and heat sensitive materials.
The users will be those companies with a requirement for 10,000m2 print a year, peaking at around 800m2 a week.
Mike Battersby, Fujifilm large format marketing manager, says: “The Acuity Select HS 30 series continues to build on the success of the Fujifilm’s Acuity flatbed printers, from the launch of the Acuity 2054 in 2007 through to the Acuity Select 20, introduced in early 2016.”
Over that period, the same engineering has been available initially as the Océ Arizona, latterly under the Canon Arizona badge. Inks and software have always been specific to the supplier.
Battersby continues: “This outstanding new machine has been specifically designed for those printing 10,000m2 a year or more, those looking for capacity without compromising quality or those speciality and industrial printers currently using analogue print technologies looking to migrate to digital printing.”
The market for flatbed printing is becoming increasingly competitive. Mimaki has announced new machines, while DGR, EFI Vutek, and Agfa are highly competitive in the sector.
