Fiery uses AI to decipher incoming emails

Agentic AI can understand the job specifications from an email and use this to set up a job for print.

Fiery is introducing AI to its Command Workstation to improve the way that jobs are submitted.

Scribe goes further than a preflight check in being able to interpret job instructions from a customer submitted email. This is an agentic AI that extracts intents from the email, combines this with the artwork file and creates a ready to print job.

This eliminates the task of opening the email and reading the information it contains and making a mistake in rekeying the instructions in a further production system. Fiery reckons that this can save around ten hours a month on job set up when dealing with 20 emails a day.

Fiery Scribe needs the Command Workstation 7.2 or later. This can be accessed from the Fiery IQ interface to check what is sent to the Command Workstation.

A large language model has been trained to look for and understand print related instructions and is capable of doing this with both US and UK terminology. This covers the choice of media, quantities and finishing processes.

The choice of media relates to the papers loaded into the system rather than trying to locate any particular brand. Currently Scribe is available in English with further languages to come later this year. Future releases will also be able to generate and send emails to clients pointing out common faults such as missing fonts or missing bleed.

Fiery CEO Toby Weiss says: “At Fiery, we’re laser focused on helping print providers solve the real world problems they face every day. Print providers don’t need more dashboards – they need work out the door faster. With Fiery Scribe’s agentic AI capabilities, print providers can enjoy email job submissions automatically uploaded in Fiery Command WorkStation with files and job settings ready to go, so teams spend less time on manual, error prone administration and more time on revenue generating work. For print providers unsure of how to adopt AI into their operations, Fiery Scribe is the perfect place to start.”
