Italian papermaker Fedrigoni is to supply self adhesive labels stock on sheets as well as reels for the first time.
These are not precept stickers or decals which are widely obtainable but luxury labels grouped as the Sheets Exclusive Collection using papers like Arena, Constellation, Corolla, Freelife, Tintoretto, Sirio and Woodstock as the face stock. The labels will be available in different sheet sizes and aimed at different end users sectors.
Typical applications will include the wrapping of luxury and artisanal goods, particularly for home shopping; logistics and home office; tamper evident security applications and others. The applications will spread across longer runs which will be offset printed and shorter runs with products that suit both dry and liquid toner presses.
The development combines expertise from Fedrigoni Paper, its graphic arts division, and its self adhesive papers. Self adhesive accounts for 59% of sales, the greater proportion of the company’s revenue.
Product manager and sales coordinator of print offset and digital sheets Philippe Vanroy says: “The Sheets Exclusive Collection represents a true synergy, on a production and commercial level, between the Fedrigoni Paper and Self-Adhesives worlds. This collection has been designed to make our most popular papers even more versatile, which can now add a unique touch to the products by transforming them into precious labels.”
It means, says Federigoni UK commercial manager Ian Braithwaite, that a designer can select a label using the same material as the package or other product that has been carefully designed with a specific paper. “They can elevate the creative impact by no longer having to use a label with a standard face stock,” he says.
The range covers papers that are cast coated, natural, coloured, felt marked and textured, made from both virgin and 100% recycled papers. Most are supplied in SRA3 format, though 22 white papers in different weights are supplied as B2 sheets and one, Arena Extra White Smooth comes as a 300gsm B1 sheet.
