Denmaur deal brings Ecofoil Digital to market

Denmaur has struck a deal with Ecofoil to offer its no plastic metallic papers and boards to digital and litho printers in small quantities.

Denmaur Paper Media has added a one-sided coated foil substrate to a growing portfolio of sustainable substrates.

This is because the Ecofoil Digital media – carton board, silk, gloss and matt papers and self adhesive papers – is certified plastic free and is applied to FSC certified base layers. The material is approved to run on dry toner, inkjet and Indigo presses, at standard production speeds without the build up of static. Ricoh has been the first to add the paper to the products it approves for use through its Pro C7200SX five-colour press.

The metallised layer is fully recyclable as it separates easily during the de-inking phase of the recycling process. The base layer can then be recycled into new paper or board in the normal way. The base material is carbon balanced via the World Land Trust.

Marketing and sustainability director Danny Doogan says: “Sustainability is a paramount feature of our stock portfolio and Ecofoil Digital is a much welcomed addition in that sense. Aside from its array of accreditations, it’s also knowing this is a product we can service in manageable quantities and deliver in robust, recyclable packaging – minimising any opportunity for waste.”

Ecofoil Digital comes as a silver, gold or holographic layer which can be over printed for a range of effects and multiplicity of colours, with greater stand out than printing with the equivalent inks and toners. Denmaur will stock the most popular colours, formats, from SRA3 to B1, weights and in 11 different textures. Bespoke orders beyond these are also possible, with Denmaur providing Ecofoil Digital in boxes to protect its surface.

Andy Buxton, Denmaur director, says: “This is another example of how we are continuing to adapt as a paper supplier. Ecofoil Digital is a brand new product to the market, enabling sustainable, luxury print and packaging for bespoke quantities and at an affordable price level.”

Denmaur holds exclusive distribution for Ecofoil Digital in the UK, having worked with the Hoddesdon business to develop and perfect the digital material. Mark Kempster, managing director of Ecofoil, says: “Denmaur and Ecofoil have a long standing relationship and this announcement comes after several months of collaboration and innovation in the development of Ecofoil Digital.”
