Delga changes ownership to be better

A share deal has left the current management team at the renamed Meliora Group in control of the expanding business.

The management team at Delga Group has taken full ownership of the Kent business through a CPOS, Company Purchase of Own Shares. This gives ownership of the business to managing director Ian Conetta and fellow directors Stuart McLellan, Sam Grits and Paul Ridgewell.

The group, comprising Delga Press and Delga Labels, CSP, Scarbutts and TT Litho, is also changing its name to the Meliora Group. A statement says this is a Latin translation for “the pursuit of the better”.

Under Conetta’s leadership the company has grown through the acquisition of Scarbutts and TT Litho, the formation of Delga Labels and an expansion into luxury packaging. Where once Delga Press had been a specialist in the production of record sleeves and other packaging for the music and entertainment sector, it now produces different styles of luxury packaging and vape boxes by the million.

In 2018, the company installed an HP Indigo 12000 HD B2 digital press to expand capabilities into short run and personalised digital print, specifically geared towards cartons production. It followed up on this investment last year with the installation of a Highcon Euclid laser cutter/creaser, as demand for what Conetta has called “multi-sku short run, high quality cartons” has increased.

It has been successful in winning nutraceutical, vitamin, education, private medicine, food and beverage clients to offset the decline in the entertainment sector.

The Delga Labels business was also launched last year, based on an HP Indigo 6900 and Digicon 2 finishing line. It had considered expansion through acquisition before deciding to exploit space in its Rochester factor for the new venture, Conetta explained at the time.

Now he says: “We have already successfully implemented many changes, and we have more to come. Significant investment has been made, introducing new technology and equipment, with more to follow shortly. This has allowed us to increase our service offering to our customers and enabled us to compete in new market sectors with an enhanced range of USPs.”
