Dalim is returning to have direct representation in the UK to look after customers of Dalim ES, the asset and project management successor to Twist and Drive, a new application suited to high speed inkjet printing.
Colin Price, one of the UK’s most experienced technology sales executives, is managing director of Dalim UK, following on from a period of consulting for the Franco-German software business at the start of this year.
“I’d sold a lot of Dalim systems when working for Turning Point Technologies 20 years ago,” says Price. “I had to get up to speed, researched the market and its potential and fell in love with the product again.”
Dalim ES is used by the likes of Boden, TAG and ITG, who have been serviced from Dalim headquarters in the Rhineside town of Kehl. Now, the company says that with expansion beyond print and primed into brand management and rapid growth of striated working, having local representation is essential. “The company sees an enormous potential in helping UK marketing services departments and companies to work uninterruptedly and collaborate seamlessly on even the most complex content,” its says.
ES works through internet protocols “and automates and strengthens the collaborate and approval cycles across stakeholders and people working from home” says Price, “which requires integration with other systems.” It is either an AWS cloud hosted Saas solution or can be an internally hosted system, as Twist and Mistral, its forerunner as an asset management system, had been.
Dalim also has an eye to a post Brexit future and minimises any disruption that this might cause. Dalim CEO Carol Werlé says: We consider the transition of support from Germany to a UK entity a very significant investment. As new rules of commerce could affect how business is consummated in the future, this will assure that there will be no interruption of service to the entire UK market and our customers. By placing a physical presence in the UK, our support is much closer — and faster.”
The move to work from home in recent months has played to the strengths of the Dalim AWS approach. “We still have technology that can automate from the web to print application to anything that the printer wants,” says Price.
The jewel may become Dalim Drive, a means of ensuring that an inkjet press will run at full speed, says Price. Processing the job is split over multiple micro core services on cloud servers.
“Inkjet printing is getting faster and faster and when people buy them they find they cannot run them at this rate because of limitations of the digital front end. Drive is the way to make sure the job will flow and print when you want it to.
“One customer in the US is processing 60 files a second using Drive. The printer becomes more productive because processing the job does not hold up the press. That customer is now saving about four hours a day which was previously spent waiting for the press to run.”
Dalim CEO Carol Werlé says that investment in the UK will overcome any friction caused by Brexit and is a “very significant investment”. The highly experienced Colin Price takes on the role as managing director Dalim UK.
