Dale hunts down Agfa Ciervo

Dale Studios has captured the Agfa printer named after a fleet-running deer.

Leicester large format printer Dale Studios has installed an Agfa Ciervo H3200, its third printer from Agfa and second at this format.

The new machine was ordered after being the machine in action at the Print Show at the NEC last year. It will replace the older 3.2metre wide roll printer, an Agfa Anapurna 3200i. The company also runs a flatbed H2500i and a number of Mimaki printers.

Unsurprisingly the new hybrid printer is proving to be more productive and efficient than the outgoing printer. Managing director Ben Millward says: “We’re already seeing significant benefits in terms of throughput and capacity, which has really helped future proof us as we scale over the next three years – confident in the knowledge that the machines, engineers, and the support behind them will keep our production moving.”

Features that are making this difference include a continuous board feeding function rather than stopping for loading new boards. The boards are destined for retail displays, both for specific campaigns and store roll outs. As well as boards, this will require window films.

Millward says: “The Ciervo is exactly what we need for where we are as a business. We do big sheet runs, but we also do bespoke, very intricate, detailed displays, short run, so the range of work is huge.

“We can be changing materials and rolls several times a day and are very reactive to the work that comes in. The capacity we have with the two Agfa machines is what we need, we have a little bit extra when it’s needed. This new machine has more print heads, more speed, and the technology is a step up from what we had before.”

Finishing is handled by two Kongsberg cutting tables, Seal laminators, being and bending benches.

The company is also strong in digital media running websites and designing portals for clients.
