Changing of guard at Potts Print provides room for growth

Cramlington printer Potts Print has a new executive chairman, CEO and managing director, as it focuses on the next phase of growth.

Shaun Johnson, managing director of Potts Print (UK) for the last ten years has been promoted to chief executive of the expanding Cramlington business.

The role becomes vacant because Michael Sandford-Couch is stepping aside from day to day control to become executive chairman. This will mean a more arm’s length focus on strategy, including acquisitions.

He says: “2015 was a pivotal year for Potts, with our latest acquisitions, Bakershaw Print and Digital XL, having successfully bedded in, helping profitable turnover grow by 15% to £15.4 million.”

Johnson is in turn replaced as managing director by long serving commercial director Mark Devine. A new divisional management structure has been devised to provide extra autonomy to divisional directors. The aim, says Devine, is to take turnover to £20 million by 2020 while remaining profitable.

Johnson says: “Mark and I look forward to working with the excellent senior management team we have here and making Potts an even more exciting and vibrant place to work.”

One of the new executive chairman’s interests is aligned with this, looking at how to enhance an already strong ethos of personal development. “I am excited about my future in the Atlas House Academy, our in-house training and skills facility, which will be launched later this year,” says Sandford-Couch.
