InfoPrint Solutions, part of Ricoh, has expanded the performance of its inkjet web presses, themselves based around the Screen TruepressJet 520.
The biggest gain comes with a more powerful dryer which is allowing the top of the range InfoPrint 5000 GP to print on heavier, lighter and coated papers, which should expand the range of products that the press is capable of coping with. The company plans to add the dryer option to other versions of the press.
Colour is improved through spot colour support, the roll out of Ricoh’s ink management software. There is an MICR ink required for some financial documentation, while the 5000 MP, which was the MICR only version of the press family can be upgraded to a full colour offering.

There is expanded support for PDF workflows with native support for the format in ProcessDirector to allow PDF jobs to be split, sorted and edited to offer complete job integrity and to achieve maximum postal discounts. There is integration with Enfocus Pitstop server to flow a job through this facility for preflighting before processing, and with Ultimate Impostrip to manage placement on the web in on demand applications.
