WTTB injects some ecommerce expertise

The trade printer has recruited an ecommerce expert to be on hand a couple of days a week.

Where The Trade Buys has appointed ecommerce expert Scott Holland as senior adviser on ecommerce and digital business strategies.

Holland will extensive knowledge and experience of digital marketing thanks to eight years at Mediaworks, a Gateshead marketing and communications agency. Holland will remain in the north east where Where The Trade Buys has two operations, its production plant in Sunderland and software development business Found.

He has, however, already visited the Dagenham books super site operated by sister company Precision Proco, and expects to spend a couple of days a week with WTTB

Managing director Louise Stephenson says: “Scott’s experience and talents are second to none, and we’re thrilled to be able to call on that knowledge to help our own growth and expansion plans. As well as better serving what have been long established links in the print reseller market, alongside a host of marketing agencies and direct clients, there are huge opportunities for us to diversify into exciting new markets.

“Scott will be instrumental in supporting our growth in both new and existing markets, particularly when it comes to our ecommerce and digital offering.”

She is not saying which markets are under consideration, nor how the business will approach opportunities that are identified. This is where Holland’s experience will be put to good use in keeping WTTB at the forefront. He says: “WTTB is one of the UK’s most successful online print providers. They’ve maintained their position there by always staying one step ahead. I’m really excited to get started with the team in developing robust and cohesive ecommerce strategies that allow them to take advantage of future opportunities in the industry.”

After leaving Mediaworks in August last year, Holland has set up his own agency business and taken on a number of advisory roles. He is unlikely to be active in customer facing positions, says a spokesman for WTTB, though before accepting the WTTB role, he had paid a visit to the Print Show last month.
