Kodak turns over a new Green Leaf

What was once the Green Leaf awards has become a full marketing support programme for printers using Kodak’s Sonora plates.

Kodak has followed up celebrations for the 20th anniversary of its first process-free printing plate with a relaunch for its Green Leaf marketing efforts to support customers switching to the more sustainable product.

The Green Leaf Awards were first launched ten years ago in order to recognise printers that had improved their environmental footprint through the use of Kodak’s process-free plates. Blackmore Press has been among the UK winners. The Awards seem to have become a victim of the Covid lockdowns.

Now the refreshed Green Leaf programme includes support materials. This includes a marketing handbook, updated collateral, animations and a Green Leaf users certificate intended to demonstrate to end customers that the printer is promoting sustainability.

This follows the introduction of Sonora Ultra, a new generation of the plate that has a more resilient surface, longer latency before mounting on press and a much higher image contrast.

VP product management at Kodak Laura Cole says: “Our new Green Leaf programme supports Sonora plate users in clearly demonstrating to print buyers and the market as a whole that their commitment to the environment and sustainability begins with Kodak Sonora process-free plates.

“By using the Green Leaf programme to communicate that they are doing their part to help the environment, printers using Sonora plates also improve their chances of gaining more business.”

The Green Leaf programme is available now to printers in North America and Canada with printers in Europe being able to sign up in the last week in September. Printers in the Asia Pacific region have access from the end of this month.

Signing up involves registration on a dedicated website. This releases access to the promotional materials.
