Four Pees is launching Atomyx as a spin off business for an integration as a service platform to automate print workflows.
This will enable printers to link different process steps in print production in an end to end workflow based in the cloud for ease of scaleability. It currently comprises three elements Atomyx Manage as the central hub with dashboard views over the process. These views are configurable to different individuals or steps in production. Different applications will use plug ins to link to Atomyx Manage. There is no fixed data structure says Tom Peire, Four Pees CEO. “We are not to going to impose a data model on users,” he says.
Atomyx Prepare uses the Callas PdfToolbox to process files, preflighting and colour conversion. A number of companies are already Atomyx Prepare, says Peire.
The third element is Atomyx Layout which is intended to optimise ganging and impositions automatically. This element is not yet completed. Peire is looking for companies to trial Atomyx Manage to check its stability ahead of Drupa.
“We want to roll this out to some pilot customers to get feedback and check the stability of the platform,” he adds.
The concept behind Atomyx emerged from integration work that Four Pees and some of the integrators work with, trying to reduce the amount of repetitive work that integrators do with different implementations.
Atomyx will remove that need for repeating integration between applications. A single interface into Atomyx and from the platform into the next application in the workflow is needed. This will reduce integration costs and make it possible for integrators or IT teams to handle more more jobs.
Atomyx Manage will provide a single workflow environment for end to end connectivity, removing any need for separate workflows across a business.
The cloud allows the system to flex, by increasing the number of threads that are allocated to a customer. Credits are used to pay for processing power in Prepare. The Manage element will be based on a monthly subscription payment.
