Expansion is on the cards for EPac Flexible Packaging with second plants planned for the UK, France and Poland and first locations in Austria, Scandinavia and the Netherlands. It will make the business a global company says CEO Jack Knott. “Our company is transitioning from EPac Holdings to EPac Global with an infrastructure to optimise market knowledge and growth in each country we are in,” he says.
The addition of 11 sites will give the flexible packaging and pouch specialist 36 plants across the world. Each is equipped with two of more HP Indigo 20000 digital presses could with specially developed laminator and Karville pouch making line.
The company started in the US, riding demand for cannabis packaging among other artisan products, opting a UK site near Silverstone in 2019. At the time there were plans for a second UK site in Yorkshire, but Covid forced a rethink.
EPac Flexible Packaging has also received a strategic investment from Amcor Flexibles, initially investing $10-15 million, last year to help expansion. Now with the end of the pandemic, EPac has pushed expansion plans into top gear. The new plants will open in the next 18 months, the company says, led by Austria. A site in Innsbruck will open before the end of the year.
It has a identified second plants for Australia and Indonesia with a first for Malaysia. There will be a first operation in Malaysia, a factory in Ghana – again by the end of the year – and examination of sites for Turkey and Kenya.
In North America the company will increase coverage with three more plants in the US and will open in Montreal in the early part of next year.
The model is to situate factories close to communities of start up business, servicing customers within a 200 mile radius with packaging and advice to improve the impact of product packaging.
