Pontefract print and marketing services group UYR has returned to Agfa for a third Anapurna large format printer.
The company has installed an H2500i LED, joining another flatbed printer, the Anapurna FB2540 and the rollfed Anapurna M3200 RTR which handles the larger jobs. An Agfa Asanti workflow handles the preparation and flow of jobs to each machine.
The Yorkshire company bought its first Agfa machine in 2012 through an established relationship with Litho Supplies as provider of consumables for the sheetfed litho commercial printing side of the business. The decision to buy Agfa however is not automatic. The market is researched for each investment, though the strong relationship that has been established has a bearing.
Managing director Adam Wood says: “The wide format side of our business is flourishing. The importance of having timely promotional messaging at point go purchase is increasingly important for our clients.
“Lead times are usually tight to produce this material and as we don’t see that changing we have to invest to ensure that our ability to service the clients sets their expectations.”
The company prides itself on being able to supply all manner of print from its own 40,000sq ft premises. It began in 1998 as a graphic design agency, beginning its own print side in 2006. That has become large format, litho and cut sheet digital print. It runs both a five-colour Speedmaster and five-colour Sakurai 566i. This is backed by an HP Indigo.
It runs eight wide format printers headed by the trio of Anapurnas and has extensive finishing facilities. The graphic design, marketing consultancy and digital marketing operations bring the team to around 100.
There is a focus on the entertainment and hospitality sector for events, where deadlines are set in stone. “Digital marketing has shifted perceptions in the fast moving hospitality market we serve. It allows our clients to be reactive to the climate, creating ideas in the morning and promoting them the same day.”
Says Phillip Tasker, account director: “Our corporate clients now want to create promotions where the physical POS may have to be in hundreds of locations the following week and the latest Agfa Anapurna H2500i engine helps us to deliver this.”
Peter Armitage, Agfa with Joe Canning and Philip Tasker from UYR with the third of Agfa's Anapurna large format printers that the Yorkshire business has installed. The extra firepower will enable growth and help the company manage in busy periods.
