Sargeant has been selling digital presses for more than 13 years and joins the UK’s leading narrow web flexo press supplier. Earlier this year, Thomas joined Xeikon to look after the company’s existing customer base in the labels sector having left Focus Machinery, another UK based supplier of narrow web flexo presses for the label sector.
He now takes responsibility for prospects and new customers for Xeikon at a point where the Belgian manufacturer is introducing its first inkjet label presses. It has also been open about plans to move into the inkjet corrugated market by Drupa.
Edale has an interest in digital printing, providing the web transport for the FFEI developed Graphium inkjet press, and having UK distribution for the machine. It has had little success to date. Likewise, UK sales for Edale have been slow despite success elsewhere in Europe and beyond. Sargeant aims to change this.
Darren Pickford, sales and marketing director, has welcomed the new member of staff. “We are delighted that Duncan has joined the team; he has started at an exciting time for Edale as we are experiencing record sales and growth, which is very unusual in the current market place.
“Duncan's industry knowledge and contacts will be invaluable to Edale in continuing this trend by keeping the market up to date with Edale’s developing technology improvements and innovations.”
His departure comes as Xeikon is starting to work with flexo market specialist Anderson & Vreeland. It will sell Xeikon’s presses in the US and Canada alongside the inks, flexo plates, imagers and processors it already provides.
Xeikon's sales managers will retain their territories though will work with Anderson & Vreeland in configuring the contract, and details on consumables and service which Xeikon will continue to provide.
