Large format printer dealer YPS has created the Your Print Institute to help newcomers to large format and textile inkjet printing, by providing training to enable those that sign up into production with saleable products.
YPS reckons it is filling a gap by addressing the needs of entrepreneurs to get up and running with a news business or to enable a commercial printer or designer to add an extra revenue stream. For £2,250 it will provide a Business in a Box, comprising an Epson printer, heat press, sewing machine and a consumables starter pack.
The new venture will provide training courses, workshops and hands on education, particularly for newcomers to the industry. “We think it is vitally important to help creatives coming into our industry to have access to the best information and resources to help them make the best choices and have the right skills to succeed,” says YPS sales director Georgia Brown.
“We are bringing together the leading players in many areas of digital printing technology, including textiles and upholstery, giftware, crafters, signage, fine art reproductions and high end photography to inspire our students and help them embark on digital print making projects with confidence.”
The company is on course to provide the first training course at the YPI location in Newcastle, in coronavirus safe conditions. There will be courses on dye sublimation, wallpaper printing, UV print for promotional products, soft furnishings and sewing; upholstery, colour management and basic solvent print and cut operation. The cost of joining each course can be set against the subsequent purchase of equipment through YPS.
The company plans to run courses in Manchester and London, as well as Newcastle. Others may follow, says Brown. “We want to make sure our new students have the confidence to print and produce their products and have all the associated skills required to help ensure they are successful and profitable.”
