Intergraf, the association representing Europe’s print organisations, is staging an Industry 4.0 focused conference during the Print4All event in Milan.
It is part of a series of events under the Print Matters for the Future, this time exploring the Print 4.0 theme and how the print industry will be changed by the internet of things big data and how print is perceived by the millennial generation.
It is taking place at the Rho exhibition centre alongside what is shaping up as the largest print related exhibition outside Drupa. This is thanks to working under the Innovation Alliance umbrella to link interrelated events taking place at the same time.
Print4All, for example is closely linked to Converflex packaging show which is in turn linked to a plastics show and food event. The organisers believe that the wider scope will attract brands that would not normally attend a print focused event. It also means that manufacturers that straddle one or more of the camps can more easily justify participation.
This has led to strong interest from companies in colour control and colour management, from large format suppliers aiming to spread their customer base into interior decor and textiles. Packaging is a key growth area, not least because it is a sector where Italian manufacturers are strong. Uteco has recently announced the availability of its Sapphire press for inkjet printing of flexible packaging; Omet intends to demonstrate the XJet hybrid flexo and inkjet label press; IML plans to show a four-clamp binder development; Tecnau will launch a slitter stacker in collaboration with distribution partner Böwe.
The Stack 1010 will slit, cut, trim and remove gutters and bleed areas on B3 format sheets, delivering stacks of different products. This can also include a punch and coil binding unit for notebooks, calendars, magazines and direct mail products.
Xeikon plans to show both toner and inkjet presses for labels and packaging applications.
There is also a strong presence from companies demonstrating added value technologies, where buy in from customers will drive demand from print converters. Scodix is squarely in this position, planning to run scheduled demonstrations for the four day show. A Scodix Ultra2 Pro with foil enhancement attachment will be running on the Heidelberg stand in collaboration with the German press supplier.
The Innovation Alliance will bring together a number of interrelate shows across the 17 halls of the Milan exhibition centre at the end of May, where the combination of print, brands and specifiers will create a new kind of show say the combination of industry organisations that have collaborated to stage the show.
Print4All as the printing focused element is alone the largest print exhibition in Europe between Drupa shows.
