InkTec European expansion starts in Italy

InkTec is aiming to build a stronger European network, starting in Italy.

InkTec Europe has signed an Italian distributor for its inks and media as part of a drive to expand its presence in Europe.

It has chosen to work with Trend a large format specialist in Terni, central Italy, handling Mimaki and Epson printers to large format and textile printers in the country. InkTec anticipates following this appointment with others as it aims to secure similar relationships in key markets across Europe.

As a result Trend will handle solvent, aqueous and textile inks from InkTec along with media and the print engines. InkTec has developed inks to run on Roland DG, Epson, Mimaki, Canon and HP printers.

Joey Kim, managing director of InkTec Europe, says: “The synergy between the businesses was apparent from our very first meeting. The similarities in our views in terms of where the wide format printing market is going, combined with the need for constant research, development and product innovation, means that we are looking to develop a very long term and sustainable relationship with Trend.

“This forms part of our overall business strategy over the next few years, where InkTec is currently in a number of discussions with other European distributors to establish a more extensive network of suppliers across mainland Europe.”

As well as providing inks and matched media InkTec produces Jetrix flatbed UV printers that are built according to the parameters used in high integrity packaging lines. These are made in Korea.

The European business was set up in 2006 to offer closer support to customers in the UK and the rest of Europe.
