Inc Direct, one of the leading Xerox users in the UK, has switched to HP Indigo for its latest press.
As a result an HP Indigo 7800 has joined a Xerox iGen5, iGen 150 and a number of Xerox Nuveras at the Inc Direct factory in Enfield. Training is underway and the company is building a range of samples to show customers what it can do, says CEO Noel Warner.
“We have been Xerox through and through since we started the business in 2003,” he says. “But rather than automatically replace one of the iGen4s with a similar machine or an iGen5 we took the chance to check around the market at the start of this year.”
This covered the full range of digital print equipment available on the market. “We decided we should have another string to our bow, and the Indigo gives us that,” Warner explains. The Indigo offers and expanded range of colours, including white, and OneShot opportunities to print on different substrates, to create high build effects and to print with different added value effects.
“The Indigo 7800 will certainly allow us to have new conversations we were previously unable to have,” he adds.
Inc Direct’s operations director Andy Sears, who ran the investigation, says: “Technologically and operationally the enhanced special effects of the HP 7800 enables us to diversify and produce work on a whole new level. Not only does this installation enhance our product portfolio and service offering, its operational efficiency will improve our productivity and help provide a sound platform for growth.”
It has already opened up the door to working with the DMA on its 2016 awards as chosen print partner as this will provide the opportunity to showcase what the press and the company is able to do. “Without the Indigo, we might not have had that opportunity,” Sears adds. “We can deliver the effects and finishes that the DMA needs for its showcase event.”
There are other long time customers that are looking for these enhancements. “They are high end customers looking for corporate and work to include the other effects we can achieve,” says Warner.
This is an extension to what Inc Direct can produce. Having the Xerox and HP technology in tandem will also set Inc Direct apart. Few others have both high end technologies, being attached to one supplier or the other.
“This is a distinct competitive advantage,” Inc Direct adds. It also positions the business for “the aggressive growth plan we have for the next three years”.
Inc Direct has shifted from an all Xerox house with the installation of an Indigo 7800 with the ability to print special colours, whites and to print on a wide range of different substrates through its OneShot technology. It marks the next phase of the company's development says Noel Warner.
